A bit Chalky

What am I thinking? I do this lesson plan every year and every year I wonder the same dang thing-chalk, glue, 5 year-olds, scissors, 8 a.m., for two weeks straight? In nice clothing? This year it will also include preschoolers-holy shitoly! I might as well come in hungover. Geezus, my room is a dump, the sink is overflowing with soap, the floor is an inch deep in water, paper towels are everywhere, I am covered in chalk, they are covered in it, my trashcans are overflowing, the tables are trashed, my room has a thin layer of dust covering it...

Friday

Typical Workday

Well it is Friday and I'm excited, I love my classes today, tomorrow is Saturday, it wasn't hard to get up, my plans are done, I'm prepared, clothes are ironed, I'm rested, etc... The alarm goes off to Kiss' "Beth" this morning, which no doubt meant there was no more snooze happening. I mean, who can not listen to Beth when it comes on the radio? Especially first thing in the morning or very late at night after drinks and fun?

So, I happily grab Uppy out from under Tommy and tickle her belly for a bit, then throw her on the porch for a morning tinkle. I walk to the bathroom to get ready.
Then begins the decline of my morning ...I totally forgot I was out of shampoo, so I scramble for the box of complimetaries that I consistently stock up on from hotels. I really do it for the girls swim bags, not because I'm a clepto or anything, they are freebies, right? Calling down for more is ok, right? I find two bottles finally, curiously, the conditioner bottle said "moist" sooo...I think condition, alrighty then...WRONG!!! It was lotion. Dang it. So back under cabinet for one that SAYS conditioner...wash hair again, condition it, now I'm running behind. Tommy has made coffee and while I'm fixing it we end up in deep conversation about the well-being of eldest daughter-really? Now? Oh God!! Then I go to blow dry hair, no heating coils!! Crap! I knew that, but I forgot since yesterday morning when I was getting ready. Just like when I was using the rest of my shampoo and just like when my gas light came on in my car on my way home yesterday afternoon, darn it, no gas either!! OK, so I go to the girls' bathroom and Tommy and I finish our conversation about the welfare of our child and also shore up dinner and movie plans, I can still make it out the door-whew!! Running out at 6:56AM, I put my things inside the car, fresh coffee, NO KEYS!! Where are they? They were here, I put them here, I did. I made sure I did because they don't need to go inside the house!! My work badge is on there!! I lose that!!That's why it stays in the car!!! Now, I've lost my keys and my work badge and it's 7:05! No!! I search the car, Tommy's car, run inside search bedroom, kitchen, living room, office, cars again, the house again, my bags, all of it again in a vicious circle as Tommy's dressing to drive me in. All of a sudden as if by magic...one last check through my teacher bag reveals the keys to unlock my road to tardy perdition, it is 7:12, I am due at work in 3 minutes. Rats!! As I start my car and back out of the driveway, the fuel light blares at me...

Monday

School's In!

Well, today marks the beginning of a new school year here. I only wish we had the fall weather already instead of this horrible, hot, languishing, death hot, heatness, Dog Day crap of August 2nd...ugh!!! My hair doesn't even get a chance to dry all the way before I'm sweaty again. But I'm goin' to "Tha 'hut" this afternoon to get it lopped off, hopefully that will help some. I hope it's not very much money, I only have $25.00.

I like to say sweaty, I hate people who say perspire, perspiring, it just sounds like they need to be sprayed with something. Perspire doesn't do the trick for all occasions either, sweaty crotch sounds much better than perspiring crotch, sweaty armpits, that sounds better too. Perspiring's for old ladies I guess even though I bet their sweat smells worse. And at the gym, no one says "Hey, dude, you perspired on that weigh bench and left your perspiration beading off of it." They say "dude, wipe yer sweat offa dat machine, dere before I put my sweaty foot up yer arse." well, maybe it's like that, I don't sweat right, so no one yells at me for sweating on stuff. I also rarely go to the gym, so there's that too. I am going today though, or else, Tommy won't let me into the house. I plan on following my book, Skinny Chicks Don't Eat Salad, by Christine Avanti. It says I only have to do 15 minutes of cardio today because I'm working back into working out and must take it slow. Then I shall tan, and sweat all over tanning bed. I guess that's all for now, hopefully, I will be sweating much more in the months to come, I don't like being left on the porch for too long. Also, I am not allowed to sleep inside the school I am pretty sure.

Tuesday

9 days and counting

Summer vacay is almost here! I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day, I miss my mom, but I'm grateful for my mom-in-law, she's wonderful to me and to my sister. Love you, Barbara. We had beautiful portraits to give Barbara taken by Amanda Summerlin, www.amandasummerlin.com, if she can make an ogre like me look attractive, she can change the world, one ugly person at a time. Thanks momanda!!!!Blog: http://amandasummerlin.blogspot.com/

Guilty Pleasures

I'm so in love with this china pattern from Lenox, I have no need for it, I already have many sets I don't even use, but it's sooo... pretty. Besides, it's got these great birdies on it, I'm so obsessed with any kind of birds lately. I wonder if I can find the perfect stemware and flatware to match and pretend that I'm buying it all for myself. Oh lord, Lenox MAKES stemware to match, then I found great flatware by Kate Spade, I love spending pretend money!!!

Tuesday

Vintage Shopping

we found the cutest little spots to play in this weekend, I can't wait to go back and look again. I was very good and resisted the urge to buy. Ronnie and Debi were very cute trying on hats together.

My Sister's New Chickens

They are so cool, the sounds they make are so clucky and happy. The eggs are delicious too. Yum!!

Thursday

Lardass

Wow!! I'm really needing to get some weight off, wishing I could get inspired by more than what I see in the mirror each day. My 40th is lurking around the corner, we joined the gym this week, now I just need to get my big butt in there.

Some Pretty Things I Rediscovered Today

These embroidered pillowcases and tablecloths are so pretty. I found them in my mother-in-law's basement several years back much to the chagrin of my sister-in-law I think, but I will keep them safe I promise. I gave each of my girls some pillowcases I crosstitched but my hubby is the cross stitcher in the house. He'd KILL me if he knew I let that cat out of the bag!!
I've been hearing the coolest song on a Honda commercial and I finally googled it (love the internet) and found her, Miriam Makeba, the song is "Pata Pata". I will try to remember how to link it. It's been so very long since I've used my tech skills. Bear with me....I also want to rearrange my pictures better. Man, some of the chixks on here take some amazing photos and do gorgeous postings. I am way behind in all of this.

Things In My Art Room

Rain, Rain Go Away

Such a perfect day to stay in bed and curl up with all my pups, Tommy included. As I was leaving this morning. he had the JRT at his feet and the Chihuahua beside him on her back with the covers up to her chin like a little snoggins-very difficult to leave them. My head feels stuffed full of cotton but not bad enough to warrant a day off I'm afraid. I borrowed this image from google, I didn't have time to snap one this morning....I'm off in search of coffee!

Monday

D-Day

Today is the day every year that is toughest for me. It marks the anniversary of my mom's death. It's been fours years and I still want to pick up the phone and call her all of the time. I think about her when I'm driving home from work and see a pretty sunset or remember the stories she used to tell me about violets being thrones for fairies and moss being the grand capreting for their homes. I used to lay under trees on my belly and imagine their lives and wish a fairy would happen along that second. I made houses for them out of moss and bark.

I remember riding home from grandpas house in the dark and she would look at the strings of headlights and tailights of cars and mumble "rubies and pearls" to herself to enjoy the traffic instead being irritated to sit in it. She encouraged me to play in the dirt and was always thrilled at whatever I brought home-alive or dead. She always had a story about what I found, sometimes she'd come with me. Or bring some scary bug in the house to show us.

I want to curl up in my warm blankets today and dream the day away. I hope the children can make me happy today with their warm smiling faces. I love you, mama. I hope you're watching over me today. My eyes are staying damp on their own.

Open Floorplans Are Not Fun For Me

Over the years I've tried so many ways to decorate my house, I've gone with trying to define rooms by using a different color room to room, that was bad...more recently we have made the dining area and foyer all one color.

I hate that when I am on the sofa I can see the kitchen, the wall of the living room, the dining room, the foyer, and part of the hallway. How can I make my eyes happy? And unless its all clean all the time there are lots of problem areas. Here's what I was looking at...

Also we really never entertain company so we invested in a huge sofa that wraps around the living area so we can do what we do best-watch movies and be couch potatoes, but now can we ever rearrange? Not to mention the cloth of said sofa is not doggy-proof. The Jack Russell has taken trying to eat the sofa and her toenails have snagged the material badly. Rethinking the purchase....

I love the fact that we have these vaulted ceilings, but trying to hang pictures is a total drag there's so much wall and all the pictures I have don't go together or make any sense together size-wise or color scheme-wise or anything, plus getting back to that huge sofa there not a sofa picture big enough to hang behind that big daddy.

Sunday

Just a small sidenote....

Bradley Cooper is HOT!!!

No more things

So I failed out of 23 Things right around voice threading. I still liked reading all the blogs I found when I was busy surfing around for stuff to use for the class. I loved the photos and interesting snippets of conversations posted. Just wondering if I have what it takes to create a pretty and amusing little corner of the world. For now I'll just keep my little blog right here and add stuff to it as I go along. Maybe it'll just be enough to please me.

We are in the middle of redoing our master bath and bedroom. We aren't taking the rooms apart. In the bath we will be removing the flooring and counters other than that it is mostly cosmetic in both rooms. I've chosen a pretty Wedgwood blue for the bathroom, brushed nickel for the metal works, dark wood, very stark white for trim, and a neutral ceramic for the tiles. Its coming along slowly and I'm looking forward to months of it being torn apart as we come up with the funds to do it.

I'm hoping the cabinets and floors will be done in summer so I don't have to share a bathroom with the girls for any length of time.
