Thing #6 and Twitter Update/My DIIgo Lack of Smartz

Okay. Not feeling smart today. It's been only two days on Twitter and I've decided that I am not ready for it. I don't really need Twitter I guess or Tweets at the moment and it's not because I've signed up on so many sites lately that involve ID's and PW's or that I've forgotten my login reset info that I had sent (why?) to my Barrow email addresss that shoots straight to Barracuda which filters the site and tells me I'm not allowed to access it. DUH! But I like the blogs now and I'm getting addicted to reading those that do not pertain to the 23. I took "a little time off" from the computer and ended up in front of it reading hours of blogs of strangers. But, since then, today, I ventured outdoors with my camera, shot some photos, rearranged my living room...which is good...right?

Back on the subject. DIIGO. I went on my laptop at home last night and when I logged in to my account, there was nothing there like I have at my desktop at school. I guess I didn't realize that the book marks don't follow you or have I just not figured out how to do that? Is anyone out there? Going to watch Kath & Kim now-I hope everyone has a good weekend!!

  1. The diigo at work should have translated to the diigo at home. What I mean is that they are the same thing. Diigo is basically a website that allows you to easily store web pages. I wonder why it didn't work.

  2. Don't worry too much about getting off track/overwhelmed... it's so easy to do when you're literally exploring a new world! I, too, swore off Twitter for awhile -- didn't take the time to figure it out and, like you, ended up with "tweets" I wasn't interested in and didn't have time to attend to! (I also had people wanting to follow me and I wasn't even tweeting!?

Caroline suggested a similar tool called PLURK (she may be planning to share later in the course so I'll wait :)).

As for the diigo issue, make sure you're using the same e-mail account for each. I've had some difficulty using similar tools when I've used my school e-mail for one and my personal e-mail for another -- see if this might be the issue. Good Luck!

Also, good idea for all, as you begin to collect LOTS of usernames and passwords, is to create a spreadsheet to store all your login info!

  3. Great advice Lynn! Keeping email addresses straight and a spreadsheet of the usernames and passwords is a great idea. Better yet, use a Google Docs spreadsheet that way no matter where you go, all you have to do is log in to get to your usernames and passwords.

Oh, and yes we'll most likely be exploring Plurk later on. May have to get our networking guys to unblock a few sites, too.
